IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
- Warm up by chatting with the class using previously learned vocabulary, phrases, and structures.
- Briefly go over the Lección 5 Communicative Goals. To orient your students to the lesson theme, have them explain what's going on in the lesson opener photograph.
- Present the Contextos vocabulary, using the corresponding transparencies. Point out and discuss the information contained in Variación léxica box and the ¡Atención! sidebars.
- Using the Textbook Activities CDs, work through Práctica activity 1 with the class.
- Work through Práctica Activity 6 as a class.
- Have students work through your choice of the Comunicación activities.
- Preview the Fotonovela by completing the Video Recap; see the annotation in your IAE for details. Tell students that in this segment, the characters will arrive at the hotel.
ASSIGNMENT
- Have students read the Fotonovela and prepare a brief plot summary for the next class session. You may also want them to watch the video module on the Video CD-ROM if you will not be showing it in class.
- Have students familiarize themselves with the Expresiones útiles.
- Have students prepare one or more of the Reacciona a la fotonovela activities so you can go over them orally during the next class session.
- As an ongoing project, have students read this lesson's Panorama section. Tell them that they will turn in their written answers to the ¿Qué aprendiste? activity on day 7.
ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
- If time permits, have students complete the Síntesis Activity 14 in pairs to practice the Contextos vocabulary. This activity is an information gap activity; see the Information Gap Activities Booklet for materials.
- Have students complete the activities in their Workbook/Video Manual, Lab Manual, and Interactive CD-ROM as they are referenced in the Recursos boxes of the student text. Advise them that they will be responsible for turning the written activities in on the last day, before the test. For today, they should be completing the Contextos activities in those ancillaries.
- Have students complete the Exploración activity on the companion website.
