IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
- Warm up by chatting with the class using previously learned vocabulary, phrases, and structures.
- Present the Lección 3 Communicative Goals. Use the lesson opener photo to orient students to the topic of families, using the A primera vista annotation in the IAE as a guide.
- Present the Contextos vocabulary. Use Transparency #16 for visual appeal. Point out and discuss the information contained in Variación léxica and the ¡Lengua viva! sidebar.
- Using the Textbook Activities CD, work through Práctica Activity 1 with the class.
- Go over Práctica Activities 2 and 3, which the students prepared as homework for this class session.
- If time permits, work through Práctica Activity 4 with the class. Then have students do Comunicación Activities 5 and 6 in pairs.
- Preview the Fotonovela by completing the Video Recap. Tell students that in this segment, they will see the characters get to know each other a little better by talking about their families.
ASSIGNMENT
- Have students read the Fotonovela and prepare a brief plot summary for the next class session.
- Have students familiarize themselves with the Expresiones útiles.
- Have students prepare one or more of the Reacciona a la fotonovela activities to go over orally during the next class session.
- As an ongoing project, have students read this lesson's Panorama section. Tell them that they will turn in their written answers to the ¿Qué aprendiste? activity on test day.
ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
- Have students complete the activities in their Workbook/Video Manual, Lab Manual, and Interactive CD-ROM as they are referenced in the Recursos boxes of the Student Text. Advise them that they will be responsible for turning the written activities in on the last day, before the test. For today, they should be completing the Contextos activities in those ancillaries.
- Have students complete the Exploración activity on the companion website.
