IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
- Warm up by chatting with the class using previously learned vocabulary, phrases, and structures.
- Present the Lección 8 Communicative Goals. Use the lesson opener photo to orient students to this lesson’s theme, using the A primera vista annotation in the IAE as a guide.
- Present the Contextos vocabulary. Use Transparencies #33 and 34 for visual appeal. Point out the Variación léxica information.
- Using the Textbook Activities CDs work through Práctica activity 1 with the class.
- Go over your choice of the remaining Práctica activities with the class.
- Have students work through your choice of the Comunicación activities.
- Preview the Fotonovela by completing the Video Recap. Then preview the Pronunciación section.
ASSIGNMENT
- Have students read the Fotonovela and familiarize themselves with the Expresiones útiles.
- Have students prepare written answers to one or more of the Reacciona a la Fotonovela activities after they have watched the video module.
- Have students work through the Pronunciación section using the textbook and the Textbook Activities CD.
- As an ongoing project, have students read this lesson's Panorama section. Tell them that they will turn in their written answers to the ¿Qué aprendiste? activity on Day 7.
ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
- Have students complete the activities in their Workbook/Video Manual, Lab Manual, and Interactive CD-ROM as they are referenced in the Recursos boxes of the Student Text. Advise them that they will be responsible for turning the written activities in on the last day, before the test. For today, they should be completing the Contextos activities in those ancillaries.
- Have students watch the Lección 8 video module on the Video CD-ROM and do the corresponding activities in the Workbook/Video Manual and the Interactive CD-ROM.
- Have students complete the Exploración activity on the companion website.
