These sample lesson plans have been designed for a 2-semester course that has 16 teaching weeks each semester and four contact hours per week, for a total of 64 contact hours per semester. The lesson plans presented here are not prescriptive. You should feel free to present lesson materials as you see fit, tailoring them to your own teaching preferences and to your students' learning styles.

When planning lessons, you may find it helpful to glance at this valuable instructional resource, which contains a wealth of ideas about how to preview and present vocabulary and grammar topics; present the video in class; modify and expand activities; and encourage learning through cooperative work, games, and specialized activities for heritage speakers.
