Course Planning

Course Planning

The VENTANAS program was developed keeping in mind the need for flexibility and manageability in a wide variety of academic situations. The following sample course plans illustrate how VENTANAS: Lengua and/or Lecturas can be used in courses on a semester or quarter system. You should, of course, feel free to organize your courses in the way that best suits your students’ needs and your instructional goals.

2-Semester System

The following chart shows how VENTANAS: Lengua can be completed in a
2-semester course. The division of material allows the present indicative tense, the present progressive tense, the preterite, the imperfect, the future, the conditional, the present and past subjunctive, and the present and past perfect tenses to be presented in the first semester. The second semester covers the passive voice, the future and conditional perfect tenses, and the present and past perfect subjunctive.

The following chart also shows how VENTANAS: Lecturas can be completed in a
2-semester course. The materials are organized into two balanced segments, which provide ample time for reading, class discussion, pair and group work, and writing.
