2 SEMESTER SYSTEM Lesson 3
(9 days, including one for testing)
Day 1
IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
- Warm up by chatting with the class using previously learned vocabulary, phrases, and structures.
- Briefly go over the Lesson 3 objectives. To orient your students to the lesson theme, have them explain what's going on in the lesson opener photograph.
- Present the Contextos vocabulary. Point out and discuss the information contained in Variación léxica and the ¡LENGUA VIVA! note.
- Using the Student Cassette/CD, work through Práctica activity 1 with the class.
- Go over Práctica activities 2 and 3, which the students prepared as homework for this class session.
- If time permits, work through Práctica activity 5 with the class. Then have your students do Comunicación activities 5 and 6 in pairs.
- Preview the Fotonovela.
ASSIGNMENT
- Have your students read the Fotonovela and prepare a brief plot summary for the next class session.
- Have your students familiarize themselves with the Expresiones útiles.
- Have your students prepare one or more of the Reacciona a la fotonovela activities so you can go over them orally during the next class session.
- As an ongoing project, have your students read this lesson's Panorama section. Tell them that they will turn in their written answers to the ¿Qué aprendiste? activity on test day.
ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
- Have your students do the Lesson 3 Contextos activities in the Workbook Activities section of the Student Activities Manual.
- Have your students do the Lesson 3 Contextos activities in the Laboratory Activities section of the Student Activities Manual.
- Have students work through the Lesson 3 Contextos section on the Interactive CD-ROM.
Day 2
IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
- Warm up by chatting with the class using previously learned vocabulary, phrases, and structures.
- Ask your students to summarize orally the plot of the Fotonovela. Work with the class as a whole to arrive at an accurate plot summary.
- Discuss the Enfoque cultural with the class.
- Play the video in class using the Video CD-ROM or VHS tape.
- Ask a few comprehension questions and then go over the Reacciona a la fotonovela activities that you assigned as homework. Have the class work through your choice of the remaining Reacciona a la fotonovela activities.
- Preview and present the Pronunciación page and work through the activities with your class.
- Preview Estructura 3.1.
ASSIGNMENT
- Have your students study Estructura 3.1.
- Have your students prepare the Inténtalo activity and one or more of the Práctica activities so that you can go over them during the next class session.
ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
- Have your students review the Lesson 3 video module on the Video CD-ROM and do the corresponding activities in the Video Activities section of the Student Activities Manual.
- Have your students do the Lesson 3 Pronunciación section in Laboratory Activities [Student Activities Manual, p. 224].
- Have your students work through the Lesson 3 pronunciation activities on the Interactive CD-ROM.
