Day 3

IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Review Expresiones útiles by asking students questions using the expressions.
  2. Work through the Práctica activities for Estructura 6.1 with the class. Students will work in pairs for activities 2 and 3.
  3. Do the Comunicación activities for Estructura 6.1 with the class. Students will work in pairs for activities 5 and 7 and in small groups for activity 6.
  4. Work through the Práctica activities for Estructura 6.2 with the class.
  5. Do Comunicación activities 4 and 5 for Estructura 6.2 with the class. Put students in pairs for activity 6. Follow the suggestion in the anno in the IAE to expand activity 6.
  6. Present the painting and quote on the Lecturas section opener. Ask students how the quote can be applied to the picture. Use the suggestions found in Additional Teaching Suggestions for Lecturas in the Instructor’s Resource Manual to direct/expand the discussion. Ask students how the quote and picture tie into the lesson theme, La naturaleza.
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Read Antes de leer for El eclipse.
  2. Study the Vocabulario for El eclipse.
  3. Read El eclipse.
  4. Identify the setting of the story (Análisis literario).
  5. Prepare the Después de leer activities for El eclipse for the next class. Do activity 4 in writing.
  6. Continue preparing the activities for Exploración from the FACETAS web site, to be submitted electronically before class on Day 5.
ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
  1. Do the exercises for Estructura 6.1 and Estructura 6.2 on the FACETAS CD-ROM.
  2. Read the Lectura section in the workbook section of the Student Activities Manual and do the corresponding activities.
