IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
- Present the vocabulary list for
Biografía, modeling the Spanish words and expressions. Discuss the
Conexión personal questions in Antes de leer with
the class. Encourage students to use the vocabulary just presented. Have
students fill out the chart and then work in pairs to compare their answers and
to determine why they follow orders from some people and give orders to others.

- Direct students’ attention to Sobre
el autor. Ask them to which period of Celaya’s career they would
expect Biografía to belong.
- Ask students to divide
Biografía into four stanzas. Have them identify the main subject
of each stanza. Have students discuss the speaker’s attitude toward each
set of commands (Análisis literario) and ask them to compare their
own attitudes and reactions to the commands (Estrategia de
lectura).
- Work through Después de leer
activity 1 for Biografía with the class. Then put students in
pairs to complete activities 2 and 3.
- In small groups, have students complete
Después de leer activity 4 for Biografía. Have each
group write their commands on the board and peer correct the
commands.
