IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
- Present the vocabulary list for El
viaje, modeling the Spanish words and expressions. Discuss the
Conexión personal questions in Antes de leer with
the class. Encourage students to use the vocabulary just presented.
- Direct students’ attention to Sobre
el autor. Ask them how El viaje illustrates the quality of intensity
that Cristina Fernández Cubas mentions.
- Work through Después de leer
activities 1 and 2 for El viaje with the class.
- Have students summarize the story in one
sentence, as suggested in the anno in the IAE (p. 152).
- Ask students to discuss the narrator’s
purpose in recording this anecdote (Análisis literario). What
inferences did they make as they read the story and thought about the purpose
(Estrategia de lectura)?
- Put students in groups of three and have them
peer correct each other’s paragraphs for Después de leer
activity 4 for El viaje. As a class, discuss the value of
traveling.
- Put students in pairs and have them work
through Después de leer activity 3 for El
viaje.
