Day 3

IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Review Expresiones útiles by asking students questions using the expressions.
  2. Work through the Práctica activities for Estructura 4.1 with the class.
  3. Do the Comunicación activities for Estructura 4.1 with the class. Students will work in pairs for activity 6.
  4. Work through the Práctica activities for Estructura 4.2 with the class. Have students work in pairs for activity 1.
  5. Do Comunicación activity 4 with the class. For activity 5, have students exchange papers and peer correct each other’s narration. Then ask for volunteers to read their narration aloud.
  6. Present the painting and quote on the Lecturas section opener. Ask students how the quote can be applied to the picture. Use the suggestions found in Additional Teaching Suggestions for Lecturas in the Instructor’s Resource Manual to direct/expand the discussion. Ask students how the quote and picture tie into the lesson theme, Los viajes.
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Read Antes de leer for El viaje.
  2. Study the Vocabulario for El viaje.
  3. Read El viaje.
  4. Decide on the narrator’s purpose in recording this anecdote (Análisis literario).
  5. Prepare the Después de leer activities for El viaje for the next class. Do activity 4 in writing.
  6. Continue preparing the activities for Exploración from the FACETAS web site, to be submitted electronically before class on Day 5.
ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
  1. Do the exercises for Estructura 4.1 and Estructura 4.2 on the FACETAS CD-ROM.
  2. Read the Lectura section in the workbook section of the Student Activities Manual and do the corresponding activities.
