IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Review Expresiones útiles (p. 51) by asking students questions using the expressions.
  2. Work through Práctica activity 1 for Estructura 2.1 (p. 56) with the class. Have students do Práctica activity 2 (p. 56) in pairs.
  3. Have students do the Comunicación activities for Estructura 2.1 (p. 57) in pairs.
  4. Work through the Práctica activities for Estructura 2.2 (p. 60) with the class. Have students exchange papers and correct each other’s written answers to exercise 2.
  5. Have students do Comunicación exercise 4 for Estructura 2.2 (p. 61) in pairs and Comunicación exercise 5 (p. 61) in small groups.
  6. Present the painting and quote on the Lecturas section opener (p. 72). Ask students how the quote can be applied to the picture. Use the suggestions found in Additional Teaching Suggestions for Lecturas in the Instructor’s Resource Manual to direct/expand the discussion. Ask students how the quote and picture tie into the lesson theme, Las diversiones.
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Read Antes de leer for Idilio (p. 73).
  2. Study the Vocabulario for Idilio (p. 73).
  3. Read Idilio (pp. 74–75).
  4. Decide on the moral lesson of the story (Análisis literario, p. 73).
  5. Prepare the Después de leer activities for Idilio (p. 76) for the next class. Do activity 4 in writing.
  6. Continue preparing the activities for Exploración from the FACETAS web site, to be submitted electronically before class on Day 5.
ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
  1. Do the exercises for Estructura 2.1 and Estructura 2.2 on the FACETAS CD-ROM.
  2. Read the Lectura section in the workbook section of the Student Activities Manual and do the corresponding activities.
