IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Direct students’ attention to Sobre el autor. Ask students to what period of Peri Rossi’s career El prócer belongs.
  2. Work through Después de leer activities 1 and 2 for El prócer with the class. Follow the anno in the IAE to have students analyze whether the hero or the student represents the author’s voice.
  3. Put students in pairs to complete Después de leer activity 3 for El prócer. Follow the anno in the IAE to have students discuss how the author would like to change her country.
  4. Follow the suggestions in the annos in the IAE to have students point out the fantastic elements in the story and to discuss Peri Rossi’s use of irony (Análisis literario).
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Read Antes de leer and study the Vocabulario for Perfil: Malintzin.
  2. Read Perfil: Malintzin and prepare the Después de leer activities for the next class. Do activity 4 in writing.
  3. Continue preparing the Lecturas activity from the ENFOQUES web site to be submitted electronically before class on Day 11.
ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
  1. Do the corresponding exercises for Estructura 12.3 on the ENFOQUES CD-ROM.
  2. Take the Quiz on the ENFOQUES CD-ROM and review any problem areas.
