IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Have students work in small groups to prepare questions and answers using the passive voice and constructions with se. Encourage them to use past participles as adjectives and to employ conjunctions. Have the various groups interview each other using the questions they have prepared.
  2. Present the painting and quote on the Lecturas section opener. Present the vocabulary list for Dos palabras, modeling the Spanish words and expressions.
  3. Put students in small groups to discuss the Conexión personal questions in Antes de leer for Dos palabras. Encourage students to use the vocabulary just presented.
  4. Have students read the Contexto cultural. Present Análisis literario and Estrategia de lectura.
  5. Direct students’ attention to Sobre el autor. Ask students what they know about the political context in Chile in the 1970s. Provide details if needed.
  6. Collect and correct the articles students wrote for A escribir.
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Study Vocabulario for Dos palabras.
  2. Read Dos palabras.
  3. List details in Dos palabras that are fantastic, magical, and impossible and decide how they fit into the daily life that the story presents.
  4. Prepare the Después de leer activities for Dos palabras for the next class.
  5. Go to the ENFOQUES web site and prepare the Lecturas activity to be submitted electronically before class on Day 11.
