IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
- Direct students’ attention to Sobre el autor. Ask them to identify examples of ironic and sarcastic language in El eclipse.
- Follow the suggestion in the anno to have students identify different aspects of the setting (Análisis literario) and to discuss what knowledge students had before reading the story and what they learned from reading it (Estrategia de lectura).
- Work through Después de leer activities 1, 2, and 3 for El eclipse with the class. Students will work in pairs for activity 3.
- Collect and correct the paragraphs that students wrote for Después de leer activity 4 for El eclipse.
ASSIGNMENT
- Read Antes de leer and study the Vocabulario for Perfil: Mary Axtmann.
- Read Perfil: Mary Axtmann and prepare the Después de leer activities for the next class.
- Continue preparing the Lecturas activity from the ENFOQUES web site to be submitted electronically before class on Day 11.
ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
- Do the corresponding exercises for Estructura 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, and 6.4 on the ENFOQUES CD-ROM.
- Take the Quiz on the ENFOQUES CD-ROM and review any problem areas.
