IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
- Direct students’ attention to Sobre el autor. Ask them how El viaje illustrates the quality of intensity that Cristina Fernández Cubas mentions.
- Work through Después de leer activities 1 and 2 for El viaje with the class. Put students in pairs and have them work through activity 3.
- Ask students to discuss the narrator’s purpose in recording this anecdote (Análisis literario). What inferences did they make as they read the story and thought about the purpose (Estrategia de lectura)?
- Follow the anno in the IAE (p. 158) to have students write a paragraph describing the nun’s emotions when she saw the convent from outside. Ask students to read their paragraphs aloud, dramatically.
- Put students in small groups and have them discuss trips as short as the nun’s that they or someone they know went on. Each group will describe one such trip to the class.
- Collect and correct the paragraphs that students wrote for Después de leer activity 4 for El viaje.
ASSIGNMENT
- Read Antes de leer and study the Vocabulario for Perfil: Catalina de Erauso.
- Read Perfil: Catalina de Erauso and prepare the Después de leer activities for the next class.
- Continue preparing the Lecturas activity from the ENFOQUES web site to be submitted electronically before class on Day 11.
ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
- Do the corresponding exercises for Estructura 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, and 4.4 on the ENFOQUES CD-ROM.
- Take the Quiz on the ENFOQUES CD-ROM and review any problem areas.
