IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Have students work in small groups to prepare questions and answers in the past using the expressions containing por and para presented in Estructura 4.2. Encourage them to use comparatives and superlatives as well. Have the various groups interview each other using the questions they have prepared.
  2. Present the painting and quote on the Lecturas section opener. Present the vocabulary list, modeling the Spanish words and expressions.
  3. Discuss the Conexión personal questions in Antes de leer for El viaje with the class. Encourage students to use the vocabulary just presented. Have students read the Contexto Cultural.
  4. Present Análisis literario and Estrategia de lectura.
  5. Collect and correct the travel advice students wrote for A escribir.
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Study Vocabulario for El viaje.
  2. Read El viaje.
  3. Decide on the narrator’s purpose in recording this anecdote (Análisis literario).
  4. Prepare the Después de leer activities for El viaje for the next class. Do activity 4 in writing.
  5. Go to the ENFOQUES web site and prepare the Lecturas activity to be submitted electronically before class on Day 11.
