IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
- Direct students’ attention to Sobre el autor (p. 76). Ask them how they think Benedetti’s life experience is reflected in Idilio.
- Have students summarize the story after lines 5, 10, 15, and 24 (pp. 76–77).
- Ask students to discuss what they think is the moral lesson of the story (Análisis literario, p. 75) and Benedetti’s purpose in writing the story (Estrategia de lectura, p. 75).
- Put students in pairs and have them find all the reflexive and direct object pronouns in Idilio (pp. 76–77), as suggested in the annotation in the IAE, p. 76.
- Work through Después de leer activities 1 and 2 for Idilio (p. 78) with the class. Put students in groups of three and have them peer correct each other’s paragraphs for activity 4 (p. 78). As a class, discuss television’s effects on viewers and the implications of those effects.
- Put students in pairs and have them work through Después de leer activity 3 for Idilio (p. 78).
ASSIGNMENT
- Read Antes de leer and study the Vocabulario for Perfil: Shakira (p. 79).
- Read Perfil: Shakira (pp. 80–81) and prepare the Después de leer activities (p. 82) for the next class.
- Continue preparing the Lecturas activity from the ENFOQUES web site to be submitted electronically before class on Day 11.
ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
- Do the corresponding exercises for Estructura 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4 on the ENFOQUES CD-ROM.
- Take the Quiz on the ENFOQUES CD-ROM and review any problem areas.
