IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Ask students what they know of Pablo Neruda. Direct their attention to Sobre el autor (p. 34).
  2. Ask students to read Poema 20 aloud (pp. 34–35). After lines 10, 20, and 32, have students summarize the poem’s content.
  3. Put students in small groups and have them write a paragraph telling the poem’s story. Have each group read its paragraph to the class.
  4. Work through Después de leer activities 1 and 2 for Poema 20 (p. 36) with the class. Have students use the personification charts they completed to aid in answering activity 2.
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Prepare Después de leer activities 3, 4, and 5 for Poema 20 (p. 36) for the next class. Write a paragraph for activity 4.
  2. Continue preparing the Lecturas activity from the ENFOQUES web site to be submitted electronically before class on Day 12.
ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
  1. Do the corresponding exercises for Estructura 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4 on the ENFOQUES CD-ROM.
