IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
- Complete the Contexto cultural exercise with the class. Provide additional information as needed and ask students to match the figures listed with U.S. counterparts.
- Direct students’ attention to Sobre el autor. Ask students to what period of Peri Rossi’s career El prócer belongs.
- Work through Después de leer activities 1 and 2 for El prócer with the class. Follow the anno in the IAE to have students analyze whether the hero or the student represents the author’s voice.
- Put students in pairs to complete Después de leer activity 3 for El prócer. Follow the anno in the IAE to have students discuss how the author would like to change her country.
- Follow the suggestions in the annos in the IAE to have students point out the fantastic elements in the story and to discuss Peri Rossi’s use of irony (Análisis literario).
ASSIGNMENT
- Study Estructura 12.3.
- Prepare the Práctica and Comunicación activities for Estructura 12.3 for oral work during the next class.
- Complete the activities for Enfoques from the ENFOQUES web site, to be submitted electronically before the next class.
- Begin preparing the Lecturas activities from the ENFOQUES web site to be submitted electronically before class on Day 8.
ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
- Do the corresponding exercises for Estructura 12.3 in the workbook section of the Student Activities Manual.
- Do the corresponding exercises for Estructura 12.3 in the lab manual section of the Student Activities Manual in conjunction with the Lab Audio CD or MP3 Files Audio CD-ROM.
- Prepare the Composición section in the workbook section of the Student Activities Manual and do the corresponding activities.
