IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
Review Expresiones útiles by asking students questions using the expressions.
Work through the Práctica activities for Estructura 9.1 with the class. Follow the anno in the IAE to extend activity 3.
Put students in pairs to complete the Comunicación activities for Estructura 9.1. Extend the activities using the suggestions in the annos in the IAE.
Work through the Práctica activities for Estructura 9.2 with the class.
Put students in pairs to complete the Comunicación activities for Estructura 9.2. Students will finish their dialogs for activity 4 for homework.
Present the painting and quote on the Lecturas section opener. Ask students how the quote can be applied to the picture. Use the suggestions found in Additional Teaching Suggestions for Lecturas in the Instructor’s Resource Manual to direct/expand the discussion. Ask students how the quote and picture tie into the lesson theme, La cultura popular y los medios de comunicación.
Put students in pairs to discuss the Conexiónpersonal questions in Antes de leer for Tiempo libre. Ask pairs to summarize their discussions for the class and to share their criteria for selecting one news publication over another. Encourage students to use the vocabulary just presented.
ASSIGNMENT
Finalize the dialog for Comunicación activity 4 for Estructura 9.2. Be prepared to present the dialog for the class.
Read Antes de leer and study Vocabulario for Tiempo libre.
Read Tiempo libre.
Draw conclusions about the symbolism of the event described (Análisis literario and Estrategia de lectura).
Prepare the Después de leer activities for Tiempo libre for the next class. Do activity 4 in writing.
Continue preparing the activities for Enfoques from the ENFOQUES web site, to be submitted electronically before class on Day 5.
