IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
Review Expresiones útiles by asking students questions using the expressions.
Work through Práctica y Comunicación activities 1 and 2 for Estructura 7.1 with the class. Students will work in pairs for activities 3 and 4.
Work through the Práctica activities for Estructura 7.2 with the class. Students will work in pairs for activity 2.
Put students in pairs to complete Comunicación activities 4 and 6 for Estructura 7.2. Review gustar and similar verbs like encantar and interesar before putting students in small groups to complete activity 5.
Present the painting and quote on the Lecturas section opener. Ask students how the quote can be applied to the picture. Use the suggestions found in Additional Teaching Suggestions for Lecturas in the Instructor’s Resource Manual to direct/expand the discussion. Ask students how the quote and picture tie into the lesson theme, La economía y el trabajo.
Put students in pairs to discuss the Conexión personal questions for La prodigiosa tarde de Baltazar. Ask pairs to summarize their discussions for the class. Direct students’ attention to Sobre el autor. Ask them to augment the information provided with their research on Gabriel García Márquez and magic realism.
ASSIGNMENT
Read Antes de leer and study Vocabulario for La prodigiosa tarde de Baltazar.
Read La prodigiosa tarde de Baltazar.
Prepare the Después de leer activities for La prodigiosa tarde de Baltazar for the next class.
Continue preparing the activities for Enfoques from the ENFOQUES web site, to be submitted electronically before class on Day 5.
