IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
- Warm up the class with a short session of “Simón dice,...,” letting different students take the leadership role.
- Put students in small groups to go over steps A and B of A conversar. Have students, individually or in groups, complete step C.
- Debrief A conversar by having the groups report their nutrition advice to the whole class.
- Present the vocabulary list for Perfil: Alejandro Leal, modeling the Spanish words and expressions. Have students work through the Conexión personal questions for Perfil: Alejandro Leal in Antes de leer in small groups. Follow the anno in the IAE to discuss what the role of scientific research should be in global issues such as poverty and hunger.
- Collect and correct the list of recommendations that students wrote for A escribir.
ASSIGNMENT
- Read Antes de leer and study the Vocabulario for Perfil: Alejandro Leal.
- Read Perfil: Alejandro Leal and prepare the Después de leer activities for the next class. Do activity 4 in writing.
- Continue preparing the Lecturas activities from the ENFOQUES web site to be submitted electronically before class on Day 9.
ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
- Read the Lectura section in the workbook section of the Student Activities Manual and do the corresponding activities.
