Day 4

IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Direct students’ attention to Sobre el autor. Have students cite specific examples of tragedy and humor found in 1 x 1 = 1, pero 1 + 1 = 2 and explain the role of each.
  2. Work through Después de leer activities 1 and 2 for 1 x 1 = 1, pero 1 + 1 = 2 with the class.
  3. Have students work in pairs for Después de leer activity 3. As a class, go over students’ answers to activity 3.
  4. Have students do Después de leer activity 5 for 1 x 1 = 1, pero 1 + 1 = 2 in groups of three. Remind students that behaviors they consider normal could be considered crazy in certain contexts.
  5. Put students into groups of four and have them work on Después de leer activity 4.
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Finish writing Scene IV for Después de leer activity 4 for 1 x 1 = 1, pero 1 + 1 = 2 and be prepared to perform it for the next class.
  2. Study Estructura 5.3 and Estructura 5.4.
  3. Prepare the Práctica and Comunicación activities for Estructura 5.3 and Estructura 5.4 for oral work during the next class.
  4. Complete the activities for Enfoques from the ENFOQUES web site, to be submitted electronically before the next class.
ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
  1. Do the corresponding exercises for Estructura 5.3 and Estructura 5.4 in the workbook section of the Student Activities Manual.
  2. Do the corresponding exercises for Estructura 5.3 and Estructura 5.4 in the lab manual section of the Student Activities Manual in conjunction with the Lab Audio CD or MP3 Files Audio CD-ROM.
