In Aventuras en los países hispanos on page 49 of your textbook and on your Interactive CD-ROM, you learned about Los Estados Unidos. Use the Internet to find out more about its Spanish-speaking communities by completing the following items.
  1. Choose two of the following people and answer the questions below: César Chávez, Sandra Cisneros, Miguel López Alegría, Tony Sánchez, Adalberto Aguirre. Where was he or she born? Where does he or she live in the U.S.? How has this person contributed to American culture or the economy?



  2. Search for famous Hispanic Americans. Write the names and accomplishments of four people you did not previously know about.



  3. Find three magazines that are published in the U.S. for a Hispanic audience. What language are they written in? Write the name of the magazine and its subject matter.



  4. Find two local or national Hispanic organizations. Write the name and address of the organizations and note their purpose.



  5. Investigate the Hispanic communities in Chicago, Washington D.C., San Diego, or Dallas. What countries of origin make up the large Hispanic communities there? Does the city celebrate its Hispanic population with a parade or a festival?



  6. True False : Ray Suárez and María Hinojosa, both national reporters who have focused on Hispanic issues, were born in Mexico City.
