Lección 16 - Quarter System
(10 days, including 1 for testing)

Day 1

IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
1. Present the Communicative Goals for Lección 16. Use the lesson opener photo to orient students to the topic of occupations as suggested in PREVIEW in the IAE.
2. Introduce the Preparación section by discussing the different experiences students have had with job interviews as described in SUGGESTION in the IAE.
3. Present the vocabulary using the Overhead Transparency and the illustrations and lists in the student text, modeling correct pronunciation for student repetition.
4. Ask students to list words associated with professions, such as cocinero: restaurante, cuchara, etc., as suggested in SUGGESTION in the IAE.
5. Go over the VARIACIÓN LÉXICA in the IAE in preparation for the A escuchar activities.
6. Have students do A escuchar activities 1 and 2 in conjunction with the Textbook Audio CD.
7. Have students do A practicar activity 3 and play a modified version of “Twenty Questions” as suggested in TEACHING OPTION in the IAE.

ASSIGNMENT
1. Have students complete activities 4 and 5 from A practicar.
2. Have students prepare A conversar activity 6 for the next class.

ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
1. Have students complete the exercises for Lesson 16 Preparación in the Workbook section of the Workbook/Video Manual.
2. Have students do the exercises for Lesson 16 Preparación in the Lab Manual in conjunction with the Lab Audio CDs or MP3 Files Audio CD-ROM.
3. Have students work through the Preparación section for Lesson 16 on the Interactive CD-ROM.
