Lección 7 - Quarter System

Day 1

IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
1. Present the Communicative Goals for Lección 7. Use the lesson opener photo to orient students to the topic of personal hygiene and daily routines as suggested in PREVIEW in the IAE.
2. Introduce the Preparación section by writing levantarse por la mañana on the board, explaining what it means, and having students tell you what time they get up, as described in SUGGESTION in the IAE.
3. Present the vocabulary using the Overhead Transparency and the illustrations and lists in the student text, modeling correct pronunciation for student repetition.
4. Divide the class into two teams and have a person from each team take turns acting out various actions associated with a daily routine for their team to identify, as suggested in EXPANSION in the IAE.
5. Go over the VARIACIÓN LÉXICA in the IAE.
6. Have students do A escuchar activities 1 and 2 in conjunction with the Textbook Audio CD.
7. Have students do A practicar activity 4 in pairs, asking brief questions about the actions described for each drawing as suggested in EXPANSION in the IAE.
8. If there is time, name daily routine activities and have students make a list of all the words they associate with each activity as suggested in TEACHING OPTION in the IAE.

ASSIGNMENT
1. Have students complete activity 3 from A practicar.
2. Have students prepare A conversar activity 6 for the next class by creating statements about a friend’s daily routine.

ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
1. Have students complete the exercises for Lesson 7 Preparación in the Workbook section of the Workbook/Video Manual.
2. Have students do the exercises for Lesson 7 Preparación in the Lab Manual in conjunction with the Lab Audio CDs or MP3 Files Audio CD-ROM.
3. Have students work through the Preparación section for Lesson 7 on the Interactive CD-ROM.
