Lección 2 - Quarter System

Day 1

IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
1. Present the Communicative Goals for Lección 2. Use the lesson opener photo to orient students to the topic of people, places and classes as suggested in PREVIEW in the IAE.
2. Introduce the Preparación section by asking questions as suggested in SUGGESTION in the IAE.
3. Present the vocabulary using the Overhead Transparency and the illustrations and lists in the student text, modeling correct pronunciation for student repetition.
4. Ask students what phrases or words they associate with various items such as la pizarra, as suggested in EXPANSION in the IAE.
5. Go over the VARIACIÓN LÉXICA in the IAE in preparation for the A escuchar activities.
6. Have students do A escuchar activities 1 and 2 in conjunction with the Textbook Audio CD.
7. Have students do A practicar activity 3 in pairs and provide additional examples for the class to classify as suggested in SUGGESTION in the IAE.
8. If there is time, have students ask for additional examples for each category in A practicar activity 3 as suggested in EXPANSION in the IAE.

ASSIGNMENT
1. Have students complete activities 4 and 5 from A practicar.
2. Have students prepare A conversar activity 6 for the next class.

ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
1. Have students complete the exercises for Lesson 2 Preparación in the Workbook section of the Workbook/Video Manual.
2. Have students do the exercises for Lesson 2 Preparación in the Lab Manual in conjunction with the Lab Audio CDs or MP3 Files Audio CD-ROM.
3. Have students work through the Preparación section for Lesson 2 on the Interactive CD-ROM.
