Day 1

IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
1. Present the Communicative Goals for Lección 12. Use the lesson opener photo to orient students to the topic of home and household chores as suggested in PREVIEW in the IAE.
2. Introduce the Preparación section by using magazine photos and real estate ads to present vocabulary as described in SUGGESTION in the IAE.
3. Present the vocabulary using the Overhead Transparency and the illustrations and lists in the student text, modeling correct pronunciation for student repetition.
4. Ask students about their living arrangements as suggested in EXPANSION in the IAE.
5. Go over the VARIACIÓN LÉXICA in the IAE in preparation for the A escuchar activities.
6. Have students do A escuchar activities 1 and 2 in conjunction with the Textbook Audio CD.
7. Have students do A practicar activity 3 in pairs. Model the activity by reading the modelo and providing a second example as described in SUGGESTION in the IAE.
8. If there is time, follow up A practicar activity 3 by having students create their own descriptions for classmates to guess as suggested in SUGGESTION in the IAE.

ASSIGNMENT
1. Have students complete activities 4 and 5 from A practicar.
2. Have students prepare A conversar activity 7 for the next class.

ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
1. Have students complete the exercises for Lesson 12 Preparación in the Workbook section of the Workbook/Video Manual.
2. Have students do the exercises for Lesson 12 Preparación in the Lab Manual in conjunction with the Lab Audio CDs or MP3 Files Audio CD-ROM.
3. Have students work through the Preparación section for Lesson 12 on the Interactive CD-ROM.
