Day 1

IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
1. Present the Communicative Goals for Lección 10. Use the lesson opener photo to orient students to the topic of sickness, symptoms, medicine and the doctor’s office as suggested in PREVIEW in the IAE.
2. Introduce the Preparación section by pointing to parts of your body as described in SUGGESTION in the IAE.
3. Present the vocabulary using the Overhead Transparency and the illustrations and lists in the student text, modeling correct pronunciation for student repetition.
4. Remind students that body parts are referred to with the article and not the possessive as suggested in SUGGESTION in the IAE.
5. Go over the VARIACIÓN LÉXICA section in the IAE in preparation for the A escuchar activities.
6. Have students do A escuchar activities 1 and 2 in conjunction with the Textbook Audio CD.
7. Have students do A practicar activity 3 in pairs and have students associate additional activities with a body part as suggested in EXPANSION in the IAE.

ASSIGNMENT
1. Have students complete activity 4 from A practicar.
2. Have students prepare A conversar activity 7 for the next class.

ADDITIONAL PRACTICE OPTIONS
1. Have students complete the exercises for Lesson 10 Preparación in the Workbook section of the Workbook/Video Manual.
2. Have students do the exercises for Lesson 10 Preparación in the Lab Manual in conjunction with the Lab Audio CDs or MP3 Files Audio CD-ROM.
3. Have students work through the Preparación section for Lesson 10 on the Interactive CD-ROM.
