ACTIVITIES
1.
Present the Communicative Goals for Lección
1. Use the lesson opener photo to orient
students to the topic of greetings, farewells,
and courtesy expressions as suggested in PREVIEW
in the Instructor's Annotated Edition (IAE).
2. Introduce the
Preparación section by circulating around the room greeting
students, making introductions and encouraging responses as described in
SUGGESTION in the IAE.
3. Present the
vocabulary using the Overhead Transparency and the illustrations and lists in
the student text, modeling correct pronunciation for student
repetition.
4. Have small groups create
conversations based on the pictures, as suggested in EXPANSION in the
IAE.
5. Go over the VARIACIÓN
LÉXICA in the IAE.
6. Have
students do A escuchar activities 1, 2 and 3 in conjunction with the
Textbook Audio CD.
7. Have students do
A practicar activity 5 in pairs adding at least two lines when they act
it out as suggested in SUGGESTION in the
IAE.
8. If there is time, have students
do activity 6 in pairs or in teams as suggested in TEACHING OPTION in the
IAE.
ASSIGNMENT
1.
Have students complete activity 4 from A
practicar.
2. Have students prepare A
conversar activity 8 for the next class by brainstorming who the people in
the photos are and what they are talking
about.

OPTIONS
1. Have students complete the
exercises for Preparación in the Workbook section of the
Workbook/Video Manual.
2. Have students
do the exercises for Lesson 1 Preparación in the Lab Manual
in conjunction with the Lab Audio CDs or MP3 Files Audio
CD-ROM.
3. Have students work through
the Preparación section for Lesson 1 on the Interactive
CD-ROM.
