IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Put students in small groups and complete A conversar.
  2. Debrief A conversar by having the groups present their conclusions to the class.
  3. Check comprehension of the Actualidades reading by asking students how the opinions of Charles Duell and Aldous Huxley on future inventions differed and what possibilities technological advances offer.
  4. Have students discuss the Después de leer questions in pairs.
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Use the Internet or the library to research a scientist from a Spanish-speaking country. Write a few paragraphs describing the scientist’s life and his/her accomplishments.
  2. Write a description of what the world will be like in 50 years. Discuss what will remain the same and what will have changed. Use pedir, preguntar, saber, conocer, de, desde, en, and diminutives and augmentatives in your description.
  3. Read Manos a la obra and prepare steps A & B in writing for use in class on Day 12.
  4. Study the Vocabulario.
