IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Present the painting and quote on the Cultura section opener. Use the suggestions found in Additional Teaching Suggestions for Lecturas in the Instructor’s Resource Manual. Ask students to read aloud their paragraphs interpreting either the picture or the quote.
  2. Present the vocabulary list, modeling the Spanish words and expressions.
  3. Present the profile on Malintzin and discuss the Conexión personal questions in Antes de leer with the class.
  4. Read Contexto cultural with the class.
  5. Have students read aloud the first few paragraphs of Perfil: Malintzin. Ask them to describe Malintzin and her early life.
  6. Collect and correct the articles that students wrote for Atando cabos step 2.
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Study the Vocabulario for Perfil: Malintzin.
  2. Read Perfil: Malintzin and prepare the Después de leer activities for the next class. Do activity 4 in writing.
  3. Go to the VENTANAS web site and prepare the Cultura activity to be submitted electronically before class on Day 12.
