Put students in small groups and have them
peer review the paragraphs they wrote for Después de leer activity
4 for El eclipse.
Present the vocabulary list for El
prócer, modeling the Spanish words and expressions.
Have students discuss in small groups the
Conexión personal questions in Antes de leer for El
prócer. Encourage students to use the vocabulary just
presented.
Complete the Contexto cultural
exercise with the class. Provide additional information as needed and ask
students to match the figures listed with U.S. counterparts.
Present Análisis literario and
Estrategia de lectura. Follow the suggestion in the anno to expand the
discussion of irony.
Have students begin reading El
prócer aloud. Ask students to guess the identity of the national
figure in the sculpture and where it might be found.
Collect and correct the paragraphs students
wrote for Después de leer activity 4 for El
eclipse.
ASSIGNMENT
Study the Vocabulario for El
prócer.
Read El prócer.
Prepare Después de leer
activities 1 and 2 for El prócer for the next class
