Lección 12 - Lecturas: Quarter System

Day 1

IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Ask for volunteers to read aloud their paragraphs discussing their feelings about/opinions on either the quote or the painting on the Literatura section opener for Lección 12. Use the suggestions found in Additional Teaching Suggestions for Lecturas in the Instructor’s Resource Manual to direct/expand the discussion. Ask students how the quote and picture tie into the lesson theme, La historia y la civilización.
  2. Present the vocabulary list, modeling the Spanish words and expressions.
  3. Have students discuss the Conexión personal questions in Antes de leer in pairs. Encourage students to use the vocabulary just presented. Follow the suggestion in the anno in the IAE to have each pair prepare two statements on the influence of heavenly bodies in our lives.
  4. Have students read the Contexto cultural.
  5. Present Análisis literario and Estrategia de lectura.
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Study the Vocabulario for El eclipse.
  2. Read El eclipse.
  3. Identify the aspects of the setting of El eclipse that are mentioned in Análisis literario.
  4. Prepare Después de leer activities 1, 2, and 3 for El eclipse for the next class.
  5. Go to the VENTANAS web site and prepare the Literatura activity to be submitted electronically before class on Day 6.
