IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Ask students to tell you about Carmen Maura’s life and career.
  2. Work through Después de leer activities 1 and 2 for Perfil: Carmen Maura with the class. Put students in pairs for activity 3; have each pair share its ideas with the class.
  3. Put students in small groups for Después de leer activity 4 for Perfil: Carmen Maura. Students will use the information they found on the Franco dictatorship and the transition to democracy to complete the activity.
  4. Begin the Antes de leer section for Los talk shows: fascinación o rechazo. Present the vocabulary list, modeling the Spanish words and expressions, and discuss the Conexión personal questions with the class.
  5. Ask students to scan Los talk shows: fascinación o rechazo to find out which three talk shows are discussed and how each is presented. (Students should look at the end of the introduction and the heads of each of the three main sections.)
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Study the Vocabulario for Los talk shows: fascinación o rechazo.
  2. Read Contexto cultural and Los talk shows: fascinación o rechazo.
  3. Prepare the Después de leer activities for Los talk shows: fascinación o rechazo for the next class.
  4. Continue preparing the Cultura activity from the VENTANAS web site to be submitted electronically before class on Day 12.
