IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
- Ask students to tell you about Carlos J.
Finlay’s life.
- Ask students what role disease plays in our
lives. Encourage them to use the vocabulary for the reading. Have them discuss
the Conexión personal question in Antes de leer in
pairs.
- Work through Después de leer
activities 1 and 2 for Perfil: El doctor Carlos J. Finlay with the class.
Have students do Después de leer activity 3 in pairs.
- Begin the Antes de leer section for
La siesta. Present the vocabulary list, modeling the Spanish words and
expressions, and do the Conexión personal questions with the
class. Have students read the Contexto cultural. Follow the suggestion in
the anno in the IAE to elicit students’ opinions of the
siesta.
ASSIGNMENT
- Study the Vocabulario for La
siesta.
- Read La siesta and prepare the
Después de leer activities for the next class. Do activity 4 in
writing.
- Continue preparing the Cultura
activity from the VENTANAS web site to be submitted electronically
before class on Day 12.
