IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
- Present the painting and quote on the
Cultura section opener. Use the suggestions found in Additional
Teaching Suggestions for Lecturas in the Instructor’s Resource
Manual. Ask students to read aloud their paragraphs describing the type of trip
evoked by the painting. Ask students how such a trip would be enriching, as
mentioned in the quote.
- Present the vocabulary list, modeling the
Spanish words and expressions.
- Present the profile on Catalina de Erauso and
do the Conexión personal questions in Antes de leer with
the class.
- Read Contexto cultural with the class.
Describe the work and lives of the three nuns mentioned. Follow the suggestion
in the anno in the IAE to have students discuss why women today become nuns and
how and why those reasons differ from the reasons women had in the sixteenth and
seventeenth centuries.
- Collect and correct the travel advice
students wrote for Atando cabos step

ASSIGNMENT
- Study the Vocabulario for Perfil:
Catalina de Erauso.
- Read Perfil: Catalina de Erauso and
prepare the Después de leer activities for the next
class.
- Go to the VENTANAS web site and
prepare the Cultura activity to be submitted electronically before
class on Day 12.
