IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
- Ask students to tell you about Jorge
Ramos’s life, both personal and professional.
- Work through Después de leer
activities 1 and 2 for Perfil: Jorge Ramos (p. 66) with the class.
- Follow the suggestion in the anno (IAE, p.
66) to have students discuss censorship in the media and to debate the issue of
censorship versus freedom of speech.
- Have students do Después de
leer activity 3 (p. 66) in groups of four.
- Begin the Antes de leer section for
De salsas, siestas y otros bonitos tópicos (p. 67). Present the
vocabulary list, modeling the Spanish words and expressions, and do the
Conexión personal questions (p. 67) with the class. Have students
read the Contexto cultural (p. 67); go over the questions with the
class.
ASSIGNMENT
- Study the Vocabulario for De
salsas, siestas y otros bonitos tópicos (p. 67).
- Read De salsas, siestas y otros bonitos
tópicos (pp. 68–69) and prepare the Después de
leer activities (p. 70) for the next class.
- Continue preparing the Cultura
activity from the VENTANAS web site to be submitted electronically
before class on Day 12.
