IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Present the painting and quote on the Cultura section opener (p. 62). Use the suggestions found in Additional Teaching Suggestions for Lecturas in the Instructor’s Resource Manual.
  2. Present the vocabulary list (p. 63), modeling the Spanish words and expressions.
  3. Present the profile on Jorge Ramos and do the Conexión personal questions (p. 63) in Antes de leer with the class. Ask students to describe their preferred news anchors and to describe the ideal news anchor.
  4. Have students read and discuss the Contexto cultural (p. 63) in Antes de leer.
  5. Show the video Adiós mamá again and work through Videoteca Después de ver el corto activity 4 (p. 73) with the class. Have students work in pairs to complete activity 5.
  6. Collect and correct the anecdotes students wrote up for Atando cabos step 3 (p. 61) and the summaries students wrote for Videoteca Después de ver el corto activity 6 (p. 73).
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Study the Vocabulario for Perfil: Jorge Ramos (p. 63).
  2. Read Perfil: Jorge Ramos (pp. 64–65) and prepare the Después de leer activities (p. 66) for the next class.
  3. Go to the VENTANAS web site and prepare the Cultura activity to be submitted electronically before class on Day 12.
