IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Present the painting and quote on the Cultura section opener (p. 14). Use the suggestions found in Additional Teaching Suggestions for Lecturas in the Instructor’s Resource Manual.
  2. Present the vocabulary list (p. 15), modeling the Spanish words and expressions.
  3. Present the profile on Carmen Lomas Garza and do the Conexión personal questions (p. 15) in Antes de leer with the class. Have students compare the party depicted in Lomas Garza’s painting with their own birthday parties. Encourage students to use the vocabulary just presented.
  4. Have students read and discuss the Contexto cultural (p. 15) in Antes de leer.
  5. Show the video Momentos de estación again and have students complete Videoteca Después de ver el corto activity 4 (p. 25) in groups of three.
  6. Collect and correct the letters students wrote for Atando cabos step 3 (p. 13) and the paragraphs students wrote for Videoteca Después de ver el corto activity 3 (p. 25).
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Study Vocabulario (p. 15).
  2. Read Perfil: Carmen Lomas Garza (pp. 16–17) and prepare the Después de leer activities (p. 18) for the next class.
  3. Go to the VENTANAS web site and prepare the Cultura activity to be submitted electronically before the end of class on Day 12.
