IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
- Present the vocabulary list for El
prócer, modeling the Spanish words and expressions.
- Have students discuss in small groups the
Conexión personal questions in Antes de leer for El
prócer. Encourage students to use the vocabulary just
presented.
- Complete the Contexto cultural
exercise with the class. Provide additional information as needed and ask
students to match the figures listed with U.S. counterparts.
- Direct students’ attention to Sobre
el autor. Ask students to what period of Peri Rossi’s career El
prócer belongs.
- Work through Después de leer
activities 1 and 2 for El prócer with the class. Follow the anno
in the IAE to have students analyze whether the hero or the student represents
the author’s voice.
- Put students in pairs to complete
Después de leer activity 3 for El prócer. Follow the
anno in the IAE to have students discuss how the author would like to change her
country.
ASSIGNMENT
- Read and prepare Atando cabos in
preparation for the next class.
- Finish preparing the Literatura
activity from the VENTANAS web site to be submitted electronically
