Day 3

IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Present the vocabulary list for El prócer, modeling the Spanish words and expressions.
  2. Have students discuss in small groups the Conexión personal questions in Antes de leer for El prócer. Encourage students to use the vocabulary just presented.
  3. Complete the Contexto cultural exercise with the class. Provide additional information as needed and ask students to match the figures listed with U.S. counterparts.
  4. Direct students’ attention to Sobre el autor. Ask students to what period of Peri Rossi’s career El prócer belongs.
  5. Work through Después de leer activities 1 and 2 for El prócer with the class. Follow the anno in the IAE to have students analyze whether the hero or the student represents the author’s voice.
  6. Put students in pairs to complete Después de leer activity 3 for El prócer. Follow the anno in the IAE to have students discuss how the author would like to change her country.
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Read and prepare Atando cabos in preparation for the next class.
  2. Finish preparing the Literatura activity from the VENTANAS web site to be submitted electronically before the next class.
