Day 2

IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Direct students’ attention to Sobre el autor. Follow the suggestion in the anno in the IAE to discuss the author’s name.
  2. Ask students whether the ending was a surprise or not. Have them list the details that made the surprise ending logical and a consistent outcome (Análisis literario) or the details and conventions that helped them predict the ending (Estrategia de lectura).
  3. Work through Después de leer activities 1 and 2 for Primer encuentro with the class. Put students in small groups for activity 3 and in pairs for activity 4. Follow the suggestions in the annos in the IAE to expand activities 2 and 4.
  4. Present the vocabulary list for Lorena X301, modeling the Spanish words and expressions.
  5. Discuss the Conexión personal questions for Lorena X301 with the class. Follow the suggestion in the anno in the IAE to ask students to consider how science fiction might vary from one society to another.
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Study the Vocabulario for Lorena X301.
  2. Read Antes de leer and Lorena X301.
  3. Prepare the Después de leer activities for Lorena X301 for the next class.
  4. Continue preparing the Literatura activity from the VENTANAS web site to be submitted electronically before class on Day 4.
