IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
Discuss with the class the Conexión
personal questions in Antes de leer for Continuidad de los
parques. Encourage students to use the vocabulary for the reading in their
discussions.
Direct students’ attention to Sobre
el autor. Ask students what elements of “fantastic realism” they
see in Continuidad de los parques.
Follow the anno for Análisis
literario in the IAE to have students work in groups to discuss the effects
of the images in Continuidad de los parques. Have each group summarize
their answers to the questions about the imagery.
Work through Después de leer
activities 1 and 2 for Continuidad de los parques with the class. Follow
the anno in the IAE to ask students if the fantastic elements of the story are
believable.
Put students in pairs for Después
de leer activity 3 for Continuidad de los parques. Have pairs
summarize their discussion for the class.
Ask for volunteers to read aloud the
paragraphs they wrote for Después de leer activity 4 for
Continuidad de los parques.
Collect and correct the paragraphs students
wrote for Después de leer activities 3 (item 2) and 4 for
Continuidad de los
parques.
ASSIGNMENT
Read and prepare Atando cabos in
preparation for the next class.
Read Conexión personal in
Antes de leer for Perfil: Wifredo Lam. Use the library or the
Internet to prepare responses to the questions. Bring in examples of your
favorite Hispanic artist’s work.
Finish preparing the Literaturaactivity from the VENTANAS web site to be submitted electronically
before the next class.
