Day 4

IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Have students discuss Antes de ver el corto in pairs. Show the video, with sound. As a class, complete the Mientras ves el corto activity. Replay any portion of the video needed to correct the Mientras ves el corto activity.
  2. Present the painting and quote on the Cultura section opener. Use the suggestions found in Additional Teaching Suggestions for Lecturas in the Instructor’s Resource Manual.
  3. Present the vocabulary list for Perfil: Carmen Maura, modeling the Spanish words and expressions. Put students in pairs and have them discuss Conexión personal.
  4. Put students in pairs to discuss Atando cabos step 1. Have students read each other’s answers and compare and contrast their responses. Ask each pair to summarize the results of their discussion for the class.
  5. Present Atando cabos step 3. Go over the Plan de redacción with students.
  6. Put students in pairs and give them ten minutes to begin preparing Atando cabos step 2.
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Prepare the Videoteca Después de ver el corto activities. Do activities 7 and 9 in writing.
  2. Prepare Atando cabos steps 2 and 3 for the next class. Be prepared to present the interviews for step 2 to the class. Do step 3 in writing.
  3. Study the Vocabulario for Perfil: Carmen Maura.
  4. Read Antes de leer and Perfil: Carmen Maura. Prepare the Después de leer activities for Perfil: Carmen Maura for the next class.
  5. Search on the Internet or use the library for information on the Franco dictatorship in Spain and the transition to democracy. This information will be used during the next class.
