Day 2

IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Direct students’ attention to Sobre el autor. Ask them how Samperio’s use of details helps illuminate his humor.
  2. Ask students about the symbolism of the event described in the story (Análisis literario). Are there any details or prior knowledge that they can use to draw conclusions (Estrategia de lectura)?
  3. Work through Después de leer activities 1 and 2 for Tiempo libre with the class. Put students in pairs for activity 3. Ask pairs to summarize their discussion for the class.
  4. Present the vocabulary list for La indiferencia de Eva, modeling the Spanish words and expressions. Put students in pairs to complete the table in Conexión personal. Ask pairs to summarize their results for the class.
  5. Have students begin reading La indiferencia de Eva. Ask them to concentrate on the development of the characters (Análisis literario).
  6. Collect and correct the paragraphs students wrote for Después de leer activity 4 for Tiempo libre.
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Study the Vocabulario for La indiferencia de Eva.
  2. Read Antes de leer and La indiferencia de Eva.
  3. Prepare the Después de leer activities for La indiferencia de Eva for the next class. Do activity 4 in writing.
  4. Continue preparing the Literatura activity from the VENTANAS web site to be submitted electronically before class on Day 4.
