IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Ask students to tell you about Mauricio Purto.
  2. Work through Después de leer activities 1 and 2 for Perfil: Mauricio Purto with the class.
  3. Put students in pairs and have them do Después de leer activity 3 for Perfil: Mauricio Purto.
  4. Begin the Antes de leer section for El futuro de la Amazonia. Present the vocabulary list, modeling the Spanish words and expressions.
  5. Put students in pairs for Conexión personal. Have each pair share their results and use the board to record the class’s actions to protect the environment.
  6. Use a map to show students the extent of the Amazon Basin and the six countries that either border the river or have tributary rivers that flow into the Amazon.
  7. Collect and correct the descriptions of the ideal future world that students wrote for Atando cabos step 2.
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Study the Vocabulario for El futuro de la Amazonia.
  2. Read the Contexto cultural and El futuro de la Amazonia.
  3. Prepare the Después de leer activities for El futuro de la Amazonia for the next class.
  4. Go to the VENTANAS web site and prepare the Cultura activity to be submitted electronically before class on Day 8.
