Day 2

IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Direct students’ attention to Sobre el autor (p. 52). Ask them what type of social engagement issues they perceive in Conciencia breve.
  2. Ask students what their predictions were about the story and how accurate their predictions were. Discuss the tone of the story and which details reveal the narrator’s attitude toward his subject.
  3. Work through Después de leer activities 1 and 2 for Conciencia breve (p. 54) with the class.
  4. Put students in pairs and have them complete Después de leer activity 3 for Conciencia breve (p. 54). Have each pair read aloud two sentences from each list; each sentence should use a past tense verb.
  5. Have students complete Después de leer activity 4 for Conciencia breve (p. 54) in pairs. Have each pair perform their dialog for the class.
  6. Work through the Antes de leer section for Anónimo. Do the Conexión personal questions (p. 55) with the class. Have students read the Contexto cultural (p. 55). Present Análisis literario and Estrategia de lectura (p. 55).
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Study the Vocabulario for Anónimo (p. 55).
  2. Read Anónimo (pp. 56–59).
  3. Prepare the Después de leer activities for Anónimo (p. 60) for the next class.
  4. Continue preparing the Literatura activity from the VENTANAS web site to be submitted electronically before class on Day 4.
