Day 2

IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Direct students’ attention to Sobre el autor (p. 30). Ask them how they think Benedetti’s life experience is reflected in Idilio.
  2. Have students summarize the story after lines 5, 10, 15, and 24 (pp. 30–31).
  3. Ask students to discuss what they think is the moral lesson of the story (Análisis literario, p. 29) and Benedetti’s purpose in writing the story (Estrategia de lectura, p. 29).
  4. Work through Después de leer activities 1 and 2 for Idilio (p. 32) with the class.
  5. Put students in groups of three and have them peer correct each other’s paragraphs for Después de leer activity 4 for Idilio
  6. Put students in pairs and have them work through Después de leer activity 3 for Idilio (p. 32).
  7. Preview the Antes de leer section for Microcosmos III (p. 33).
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Study the Vocabulario for Microcosmos III (p. 33).
  2. Read Microcosmos III (pp. 34–35).
  3. Identify the elements of humor and the details that appear in Microcosmos III. (Refer to Análisis literario and Estrategia de lectura, (p. 33.)
  4. Prepare the Después de leer activities for Microcosmos III (p. 36) for the next class. Do activity 4 in writing.
  5. Continue preparing the Literatura activity from the VENTANAS web site to be submitted electronically before class on Day 4.
