IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES
  1. Have a few volunteers read aloud their paragraph for Después de leer activity 4 (p. 12). Collect and correct students’ paragraphs.
  2. Put students in pairs and have them complete Después de leer activity 3 (p. 12).
  3. Work through Atando cabos step 1 (p. 13) with the class. Have students do Atando cabos step 2 (p.13) in pairs.
  4. Present the painting and quote on the Cultura section opener (p. 14). Use the suggestions found in Additional Teaching Suggestions for Lecturas in the Instructor’s Resource Manual.
  5. Present the vocabulary list (p. 15), modeling the Spanish words and expressions.
  6. Show the video again, with sound. Have students complete the Mientras ves el corto activity (p. 24).
  7. Collect and correct the letters students wrote for Atando cabos step 3 (p. 13).
ASSIGNMENT
  1. Study Vocabulario (p. 15).
  2. Prepare Videoteca Después de ver el corto activity 3 in writing and activity 4 (p. 25) for oral discussion.
  3. Read Antes de leer (p. 15) and Perfil: Carmen Lomas Garza (pp. 16–17).
  4. Prepare the Después de leer activities for Perfil: Carmen Lomas Garza (p. 18) for the next class.
